漂珠是一种能浮于水面的粉煤灰空心球，呈灰白色，壁薄中空，颗粒细、重量轻，高强耐磨、表面封闭而光滑，热导率小，耐火度高、保温绝缘、应力应变均匀等多种功能，广泛用于耐火、保温材料的生产和在塑料、涂料、油漆油墨、陶瓷、封装材料、地板胶、石油钻探等领域作增强性填充料。能既有效地改善产品性能或施工效果，又明显地降低生产成本，现已广泛应用于耐火材料的原料之中。

4、电绝缘性，不导电：选去磁珠后的漂珠，是性能的绝缘材料，不导电。一般绝缘体的电阻均随温度的升高而降低，漂珠则相反，随温度的升高电阻增大。这一优点是其他绝缘材料都不具备的。所以，它可以制作是性能的高温条件下的绝缘材料制品。
